The bulletin sets file sizes but no pixels. It asks for a recent scanned passport size photograph, in colour, showing 80% of your face including the ears, without a mask, against a white background. The file must be clearly legible.
You need two photos
You take a live photograph while filling in the form, and you also upload a scanned passport size photo. This tool is for the second one. The live photo is taken by the form itself.
Getting the face to fill the frame
The 80% rule is the easiest one to miss, because a phone photo usually shows far more than the face. After choosing your picture, raise the zoom until your face fills the dotted oval and both ears are still in view. If your wall is not white, stand against a white one and take the photo again. That gives a better result than any editing.
Other files in the form
Your Class 10 certificate or marks sheet must be a PDF between 50 kB and 300 kB, and so must the other certificates the bulletin lists. This tool makes JPG files only, so use compress PDF for those.
What is the photo size for JEE Main 2027?
Between 10 kB and 200 kB in JPG or JPEG format, as the JEE (Main) 2027 Information Bulletin says. The bulletin gives no pixel size.
What is the signature size for JEE Main 2027?
Between 10 kB and 100 kB in JPG or JPEG format.
Can the JEE Main photo be black and white?
No. The JEE Main 2027 bulletin says the photograph should be in colour. This differs from NEET UG, whose bulletin allows colour or black and white.
Do I need my name and date on the JEE Main photo?
The bulletin does not ask for them, so leave that option off unless a newer notice says otherwise.
