What fits in 20 KB
20 KB is small. As a rough guide, a portrait photo with a plain background holds up at about 300 × 400 pixels at this size. Trying to keep a 3000-pixel photo under 20 KB gives a blurred, blocky mess, so the tool shrinks the picture too, stopping at the largest size that stays clear.
Which forms need 20 KB
20 KB is the usual top limit for a signature: IBPS, SBI, SSC and TNPSC all use 10–20 KB. Those forms have a minimum as well as a maximum, and set pixels too. For those, choose your exam from the list instead, so you get the exact shape.
How to get a sharper result
- Crop first. Fewer pixels of background means more room for your face.
- Use a plain background. Leaves, patterns and noise take up the most space in a JPG.
- Use a well-lit photo. A dark phone photo is full of grain, which is hard to compress.
Need a different size? Change the number in the box, or use the image compressor for several pictures at once.
How do I reduce a photo to 20 KB?
Choose your picture on this page. The tool makes a JPG under 20 KB straight away. Download it from the result.
Does it work for PNG?
Yes. PNG, WebP and JPG all go in, and the result is always a JPG, because JPG is what most forms accept.
Will the picture look worse?
It will be smaller and softer than the original, but the tool keeps a good quality and reduces the pixels instead of crushing a large picture.
Is 20 KB counted as 20,000 or 20,480 bytes?
The tool stays under 20,000 bytes, so the file passes whichever way the form counts.
