Billing for a Small Restaurant
Open a bill for each table, add to it as they order, and print it when they finish.
This browser is not keeping what you do here (a private window, or its storage is full). Bills made now will be gone when the page is closed.
Answer a few questions — your kind of shop, what you sell and your prices — and the counter is ready to bill. It takes about two minutes.
Or add a ready list of item names straight away, and price them as you go:
Nothing on the menu matches.
No bills on this day.
No bills on this day.
Nothing on this day.
No one buys on credit yet. Choose “Credit” when a bill is paid to start an account.
No bills in this month.
Each button saves a spreadsheet file (CSV) for the days chosen. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice.
The menu, the shop's details, every bill and every account are kept in this browser on this device only. A backup file is the way to move them to another phone, and to keep them safe if the browser's data is cleared. Bringing a file back replaces what is here.

The receipt's own words — bill, total, cash, change — are printed in this language. Your item names are printed as you typed them.
That does not look like a UPI ID. It is written like name@bank.
The code carries the bill's total, so the customer's app opens with the amount filled in. The money goes straight from their bank to yours; this page never sees it and cannot tell whether a payment arrived — check your own UPI app.
Without a printer joined here, Print opens this device's own print window, which works with any printer the device already knows. Joining a receipt printer below prints straight to it, with no window in between.
This browser cannot join a printer itself. Chrome or Edge on Android, Windows, Mac or Linux can. Print still works through the device's own print window.
The browser asks you to choose the printer each time the page is opened. A receipt in plain English letters is sent as text, which prints fastest; one in any other script, and every payment code, is sent as a picture.
What is new in each version
The setup asks what kind of shop it is, what you sell and your prices. Running it again adds to your menu; it does not remove anything.
This browser cannot listen. Chrome, Edge and Safari can.
Tap Speak on the counter and say the order: “two tea, one vada”, “tomato half kilo”, “onion for 20 rupees”. The browser's own speech service turns your voice into words, which in most browsers needs the internet; this page then finds those words on your menu. If it mishears a name, add that spelling under “Also called” for the item.
A counter for a small restaurant
A small restaurant or tiffin centre differs from a stall in one way that matters for billing: customers order, eat, order again, and pay at the end. This counter handles that with Hold, which keeps a table's bill open while you serve the next one.
Tap Set up step by step and choose Small restaurant as your kind of shop to start from a ready list of 22 things such a place usually serves. Among them:
- Idli
- Dosa
- Masala dosa
- Poori
- Chapati
- Parotta
- Appam
- Puttu
- Upma
- Meals
- Biryani
- Fried rice
- Egg curry
- Chicken curry
- Fish curry
- Fish fry
- Omelette
The list is names only: tap a tile and type your own price. Idli, poori, puttu, upma and the curries are set to be sold by the plate; change that for any item under Menu.
A bill for each table
- Tap what the table has ordered, then tap Hold and type the table's number on the pad. The bill moves above the counter as “No. 4”, with its total so far.
- Bill the next customer as usual.
- When table 4 orders more, tap “No. 4”. Its bill comes back; add to it and hold it again. If another bill is open at that moment it is put on hold for you.
- When they finish, tap “No. 4”, then Pay.
Twenty bills can be on hold at once. They are kept if the page is closed or the phone restarts.
Things a small restaurant needs
Dishes that run out. Under Menu, tick “Not for sale today” on a dish that is finished. It leaves the counter and keeps its price for tomorrow.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Give items a group — “Breakfast”, “Meals”, “Drinks” — and the counter shows one group at a time from the row of buttons above the tiles.
A wider receipt. On an 80 mm roll the receipt has a column for the rate as well as the quantity and the amount. Choose the paper under Shop.
A charge on every bill. If you add a tax, switch on “Add a tax to every bill” under Shop and type its name and your rate. It is added on top of the prices and printed as its own line. The tool does not know any rate, and the receipt it prints is not a tax invoice — ask your accountant what your restaurant must issue.
Taking the money and printing
Tap the green Pay button. Choose Cash and tap the note the customer hands over — the change is shown at once — or choose UPI to show a payment code with the bill's total in it, or Credit to put the bill on a regular customer's account. Save and print keeps the bill and prints the receipt on a 58 mm or 80 mm roll; Save keeps it without printing.
At closing time, open Day book: it shows the day's sales, how much came in cash, by UPI and on credit, what sold, and the cash that should be in the drawer. Printers, speaking the order, exporting to a spreadsheet and the backup file are explained in the main guide.
Can I keep a bill open for a table?
Yes. Tap Hold and type the table's number. The bill waits above the counter with its total, and comes back when you tap it. Twenty bills can be on hold at once, and they survive the page being closed.
Does it print a kitchen order ticket?
No. It prints the customer's receipt. For a small kitchen, the bill on the screen or a printed receipt can be shown to the cook; a separate kitchen printer is not supported.
Can I add GST or a service charge?
You can add one tax or charge, with a name and a rate you type, on top of every bill. The tool does not know any rate and does not split a tax into parts, and its receipt is not a tax invoice. Ask your accountant what you are required to issue.
Are prices included in the ready list?
No. The restaurant list has 22 names and no prices. You type each price once on the number pad.
Can two waiters use it on two phones?
Each device keeps its own bills and they are not shared. Use one phone or tablet at the cash counter as the till.
