The ManyHand GST Calculator works out Goods and Services Tax both ways. Add GST to a price before tax to get the amount to charge, or remove GST from a GST-inclusive price (an MRP or a bill total) to find the taxable value and the tax inside it. It splits the tax into CGST and SGST for a sale within a state, or shows IGST for a sale between states. The Bill with items mode totals several items at different rates and gives a rate-wise tax summary like the one on a tax invoice.
- Adding GST: GST = price × rate ÷ 100. Total = price + GST.
- Removing GST: price before GST = total × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). GST = total − price before GST.
- Within a state: CGST = SGST = GST ÷ 2. Between states: IGST = the full GST.
What are the current GST rates?
Since 22 September 2025 most goods and services are taxed at 5% or 18%, with 40% for luxury and sin goods. Special rates include 0% for exempt items, 0.25% for rough diamonds and 3% for gold, silver and jewellery. The older 12% and 28% slabs (shown with a dashed border) are still here for past invoices, and you can type any other rate.
When is it CGST + SGST, and when is it IGST?
If the seller and the place of supply are in the same state or union territory, the tax is split equally into CGST and SGST (UTGST in a union territory). If they are in different states, or the goods are imported, the whole tax is IGST.
Why doesn't 18% of the inclusive price give the right GST?
The 18% is charged on the price before tax, not on the total. On ₹1,180, GST is 18/118 of it, which is ₹180. Taking 18% of ₹1,180 gives ₹212.40, which is wrong. Pick “Including GST” and the calculator does this for you.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser, and nothing you type leaves your device. This is a calculator, not tax advice. Check the rate for your item with a tax professional or the official GST rate notifications.
