🐢 The Tortoise and the Hare

'You are SO slow!' the speedy hare teased the little tortoise. 'Then let us race,' said the tortoise calmly. 'Ha! This will be easy,' laughed the hare, and off he zoomed in a cloud of dust. He ran so far ahead that he stopped for a rest. 'I will just close my eyes for a moment,' he yawned, and fell fast asleep. Step… by step… by step… the slow tortoise kept walking and never stopped. When the hare woke up with a jump, he raced to the end — but too late! The little tortoise was already there, smiling. 'Slow and steady,' he said, 'wins the race!'

'तुम तो बहुत धीमे हो!' तेज़ खरगोश ने नन्हे कछुए को चिढ़ाया। 'तो चलो दौड़ लगाते हैं,' कछुआ शांति से बोला। 'हा! यह तो आसान है,' खरगोश हँसा, और धूल उड़ाता हुआ भाग गया। वह इतना आगे निकल गया कि आराम करने रुक गया। 'बस ज़रा देर आँखें बंद करता हूँ,' वह जम्हाई लेकर गहरी नींद सो गया। कदम… कदम… कदम… धीमा कछुआ चलता रहा, कभी न रुका। जब खरगोश हड़बड़ाकर जागा, वह दौड़ा — पर बहुत देर हो चुकी थी! नन्हा कछुआ पहले से वहाँ मुस्कुरा रहा था। 'धीरे और लगातार चलने वाला,' वह बोला, 'दौड़ जीतता है!'

'നീ വല്ലാത്ത പതുക്കനാണ്!' വേഗമുള്ള മുയൽ കൊച്ചു ആമയെ കളിയാക്കി. 'എന്നാൽ നമുക്ക് ഓടാം,' ആമ ശാന്തമായി പറഞ്ഞു. 'ഹാ! ഇത് എളുപ്പമാണ്,' മുയൽ ചിരിച്ച് പൊടിപറത്തി കുതിച്ചു. ഏറെ മുന്നിലെത്തിയ അവൻ വിശ്രമിക്കാൻ നിന്നു. 'ഒരു നിമിഷം കണ്ണടയ്ക്കാം,' കോട്ടുവായിട്ട് അവൻ ഉറങ്ങിപ്പോയി. ചുവട്… ചുവട്… ചുവട്… പതുക്കെയുള്ള ആമ നിർത്താതെ നടന്നു. മുയൽ ഞെട്ടി ഉണർന്ന് ഓടി — പക്ഷേ വൈകി! കൊച്ചു ആമ നേരത്തെ അവിടെയെത്തി പുഞ്ചിരിച്ചു. 'പതുക്കെയും സ്ഥിരമായും പോകുന്നവൻ,' അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു, 'ജയിക്കും!'
