Using the chart
- Say the name and the sound. “A is for apple — a, a, apple.” Children who hear both the letter's name and the sound it makes are ready for simple words sooner.
- Point and find. Pick a letter a day and look for things around the house that start with it.
- Capitals first for writing. Capital letters are made of straight lines and simple curves, so they are easier to trace. ABC Fun! shows the stroke order for every capital with numbered arrows; small letters can follow once capitals are steady.
- The odd ones. Very few everyday words begin with X, so it is X for Xylophone here; Q nearly always comes with U, as in Queen.
The pictures are the ones the app uses. The letters in brackets under each card are just the letter, for typing.
