🦁 The Lion and the Mouse

Deep in the jungle, a big lion was fast asleep under a shady tree. Pitter-patter! A tiny mouse ran right across his nose. The lion woke with a great GRRR and caught the little mouse in his huge paw. 'Please, please let me go,' squeaked the mouse. 'One day I will help you, I promise!' The lion laughed — 'You? Help me?' — but he opened his paw and set the mouse free. A few days later, the lion stepped into a hunter's net and could not get out. He roared and roared. The little mouse heard him and came running. Nibble, nibble, nibble — she chewed the ropes until the lion was free! 'Even a very small friend,' smiled the lion, 'can be a very big help.'

घने जंगल में, एक बड़ा शेर छायादार पेड़ के नीचे गहरी नींद सो रहा था। टिप-टिप! एक नन्हा चूहा उसकी नाक पर से दौड़ गया। शेर ग़ुर्राते हुए जागा और नन्हे चूहे को अपने बड़े पंजे में पकड़ लिया। 'कृपया, मुझे जाने दो,' चूहा चींची करके बोला। 'किसी दिन मैं तुम्हारी मदद करूँगा, पक्का!' शेर हँसा — 'तुम? मेरी मदद?' — पर उसने पंजा खोलकर चूहे को छोड़ दिया। कुछ दिनों बाद शेर शिकारी के जाल में फँस गया और निकल न सका। वह दहाड़ता रहा। नन्हे चूहे ने सुना और दौड़ा आया। कुतर, कुतर, कुतर — उसने रस्सियाँ काट दीं और शेर आज़ाद हो गया! 'छोटा सा दोस्त भी,' शेर मुस्कुराया, 'बहुत बड़ी मदद कर सकता है।'

'എന്നെങ്കിലും ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സഹായിക്കും, ഉറപ്പ്!' സിംഹം ചിരിച്ചു — 'നീയോ? എന്നെ സഹായിക്കുമോ?' — എങ്കിലും കൈ തുറന്ന് എലിയെ വിട്ടയച്ചു. കുറച്ച് ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞ് സിംഹം വേട്ടക്കാരന്റെ വലയിൽ കുടുങ്ങി, പുറത്തുവരാനായില്ല. അവൻ ഉറക്കെ ഗർജിച്ചു. കൊച്ചു എലി കേട്ട് ഓടിയെത്തി. കരുമു, കരുമു — അവൾ കയറുകൾ കടിച്ച് സിംഹത്തെ സ്വതന്ത്രനാക്കി! 'വളരെ ചെറിയ കൂട്ടുകാരനും,' സിംഹം പുഞ്ചിരിച്ചു, 'വലിയ സഹായമാകാം.'
