The Honest Woodcutter
A poor woodcutter was chopping wood beside a deep river. Suddenly — splash! — his old axe slipped from his hands into the water. He sat down and cried, for it was the only axe he had. Just then, a shining water fairy rose from the river. She held up a golden axe. 'Is this yours?' 'No, that is not mine,' said the honest man. She showed a silver axe. 'No, not that one either,' he said. Then she brought up his plain old iron axe. 'Yes! That is mine!' he cried with joy. The fairy smiled. 'Because you told the truth, you may keep all three.' Honesty always brings its own reward.

Talk about it
Which axes did the fairy show the woodcutter?
Why did she let him keep all three?
Why is it good to tell the truth, even when no one would know?
