🐺 The Boy Who Cried Wolf

A little shepherd boy watched his sheep on a green hill. It was quiet, and he was bored. 'I know a fun game!' he thought, and shouted, 'Wolf! Wolf! Help!' The kind villagers came running up the hill — but there was no wolf. 'Ha ha, fooled you!' the boy laughed. The next day he did it again, and again they came for nothing. Then one evening, a REAL wolf crept out of the trees. 'Wolf! Wolf!' the boy screamed with all his might. But this time nobody came, because no one believes someone who tells fibs. From that day on, the boy always told the truth.

एक नन्हा गड़रिया हरी पहाड़ी पर अपनी भेड़ें चराता था। चारों ओर शांति थी, और वह ऊब गया। 'एक मज़ेदार खेल सूझा!' उसने सोचा और चिल्लाया, 'भेड़िया! भेड़िया! बचाओ!' दयालु गाँव वाले पहाड़ी पर दौड़े आए — पर कोई भेड़िया न था। 'हा हा, बना दिया उल्लू!' लड़का हँसा। अगले दिन उसने फिर ऐसा किया, और लोग फिर बेकार में आए। फिर एक शाम, सचमुच का भेड़िया पेड़ों से निकल आया। 'भेड़िया! भेड़िया!' लड़का पूरी ताक़त से चिल्लाया। पर इस बार कोई न आया, क्योंकि झूठ बोलने वाले पर कोई भरोसा नहीं करता। उस दिन से लड़का हमेशा सच बोलने लगा।

ഒരു കൊച്ചു ഇടയബാലൻ പച്ചക്കുന്നിൽ ആടുകളെ മേയ്ച്ചു. ചുറ്റും നിശ്ശബ്ദമായിരുന്നു, അവന് മടുപ്പ് തോന്നി. 'രസമുള്ള ഒരു കളി!' എന്നോർത്ത് അവൻ വിളിച്ചുകൂവി, 'ചെന്നായ്! ചെന്നായ്! സഹായിക്കൂ!' ദയയുള്ള ഗ്രാമവാസികൾ കുന്നുകയറി ഓടിയെത്തി — പക്ഷേ ചെന്നായില്ല. 'ഹഹ, പറ്റിച്ചു!' ബാലൻ ചിരിച്ചു. പിറ്റേന്നും അവൻ അതേ കളി കളിച്ചു, അവർ വെറുതെ ഓടിയെത്തി. പിന്നൊരു സന്ധ്യയ്ക്ക്, ശരിക്കും ഒരു ചെന്നായ് മരങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽനിന്ന് വന്നു. 'ചെന്നായ്! ചെന്നായ്!' ബാലൻ ആഞ്ഞുവിളിച്ചു. പക്ഷേ ഇത്തവണ ആരും വന്നില്ല, കാരണം കള്ളം പറയുന്നവനെ ആരും വിശ്വസിക്കില്ല. അന്നുമുതൽ ബാലൻ എപ്പോഴും സത്യം പറഞ്ഞു.
