A wedding card in a few minutes

This page opens on the wedding card: the Flowers design in ivory and gold, with the couple's names in script. It starts with “Together with their families” above the names and “request the pleasure of your company at their wedding” below. Type the two names in the big line — “Anu & Vivek” — add the date, the time and the hall, and the card is ready. Every part of the wording can be changed.

Who is inviting

The opening line and the “From” line between them say who the hosts are, and there are three common ways of doing it.

  • The couple, with both families. Keep “Together with their families” and leave “From” empty, or put the two family names there.
  • The parents. Change the opening line to “Mr & Mrs Menon invite you to the wedding of their daughter” and put the couple's names in the big line.
  • The couple themselves. “We are getting married” as the opening line, and “and would love you to be there” under the names.

What a wedding guest needs to know

The date written out in full with the day of the week, the time the ceremony starts, and the name and address of the venue. Add the end time if a meal follows, so people can plan their travel. Paste a map link for the exact spot if the hall is hard to find — a marriage hall and a hotel of the same name in the same town is a common mix-up. Use the note for the rest: the muhurtham, the reception in the evening, parking, or where out-of-town guests are staying. The note is shown under the card, not on it, and holds 500 characters.

A wedding often has more than one function. One link holds one date and one place, so the simplest way is one invitation for the wedding with the other functions listed in the note. If the reception has a different guest list, make it a second invitation afterwards: change the wording and send that link to those guests.

When to send it

For guests who have to travel, six to eight weeks before the day is kind; for those nearby, three to four weeks is usual. If the catering depends on numbers, set “Reply by” about two weeks before the wedding — the card then prints “RSVP by” with that date.

Sending to a long guest list

Put the families in the Guest List Maker first, with a phone number each. Back here they appear under “Send to your guest list”, and each has a WhatsApp button that opens the chat with that family, the message addressed to them by name. One tap each, and the list ticks itself off as you go. For elders who would rather have paper, download the PDF and print it at 5 × 7 inches.

Questions
Can I make a wedding invitation for WhatsApp?

Yes. The “WhatsApp” button opens WhatsApp with the message and the invitation link ready to send. To send the card itself as an image, use “Share the card picture” or “Download picture”.

Can each guest get an invitation with their own name?

Yes. Type the name in the “To” box, or send from your guest list: the message opens “Dear …,” with their name and the card they see carries the same line.

Can I print the wedding card?

Yes. “Download PDF” makes a 5 × 7 inch page and “Download picture” a 1500 × 2100 pixel image. There is no watermark.

Can I add the muhurtham time and the reception?

The card has one date with a start and an end time. Put anything else — the muhurtham, the reception, other functions — in the note for guests, which is shown under the card.
