Bills receivable and payable
Every invoice is a bill with a due date; every receipt and payment is set against bills; and the outstanding reports show who owes what, which bills, and how late — with a reminder ready to send from your own WhatsApp or mail.

Bill-by-bill balances
A customer or supplier ledger keeps bill-by-bill balances when that box is ticked (it is, for every new party). Give the party its credit period in days: a sale then raises a bill under the invoice number, due that many days later; a purchase raises a bill under the supplier's invoice number.
When money comes in (F6) or goes out (F5), the amount is set against the party's oldest bills first, and the bill-wise details appear under the line: Agst Ref (against a bill), New Ref (a new bill), Advance, or On Account (not against any bill). Change them as the customer's remittance says. A sales return (credit note) settles the invoice it names.
The reports
Bills Receivable and Bills Payable (Display More Reports) list every party with an open balance and, under it, each open bill: its date, due date, original amount, what is pending and how many days it is overdue. Along the top the total is split by age — not due, 1–30 days, 31–60, 61–90, over 90. Enter on a party shows only its bills; on a bill, the invoice itself.
From a party's bills, Alt+W writes a polite statement of what is due, bill by bill, and opens it in your WhatsApp or mail app to send — the page itself sends nothing.
Opening bills
A party that already owed you when the books began can be given its opening bills one by one in the ledger (number, date, due date, amount). Left empty, the opening balance becomes one bill called "Opening".
What if a customer pays part of a bill?
Put the amount against that bill; the rest of it stays open, with its age still counting from its due date.
Can I take an advance before the invoice?
Yes: in the receipt choose Advance and name it; when the invoice is made, set the advance against it in a journal, or leave both open and they net off in the party's balance.
How is "overdue" counted?
From the bill's due date (the invoice date plus the party's credit days), or from the bill's date when there is no credit period, up to the last day of the period — or today, if earlier.
Can I see one customer's statement?
Yes: the ledger of that customer (Display More Reports → Ledger) lists every voucher with a running balance, and it prints or saves as a spreadsheet.
Does the reminder go out by itself?
No. It opens in your own WhatsApp or mail app with the text written; you read it and press send. Nothing is sent from this page.
