Accounting & Inventory
Full books for a business: groups and ledgers, vouchers you type with the keyboard, stock items, GST invoices and returns, and every report — free, private to your device, and it installs as an app that works with no internet.
This browser is not keeping what you do here (a private window, or its storage is full). Everything entered now will be gone when the page is closed.
What this is
Accounting & Inventory is double-entry accounting software that runs in your browser. It keeps the books the way an accountant in India keeps them: a company with its groups and ledgers, vouchers for every transaction, stock items with quantities and value, and GST worked out on every invoice. From those it draws the balance sheet, the profit and loss account, the trial balance, the day book, every ledger account, sales and purchase registers, bills receivable and payable, the stock summary, ratio analysis, cash flow, bank reconciliation, and the figures for GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B.
It is built to be fast at the keyboard. Every screen answers to keys — F8 opens a sales invoice, Enter moves to the next box, Ctrl+A saves — and every key is also a button down the right of the window (along its foot on a phone), so a mouse or a finger works as well.
Your books never leave your device. There is no account to make and nothing is sent to a server; the companies, ledgers and vouchers are kept in this browser's own storage. Export each company to a file now and then (Data → Export) — that file is your backup, and it is how you carry the books to another computer.
Getting started in five minutes
- Make the company. Its name, address and state; the month the financial year begins (April in India) and the day the books begin; whether it keeps stock items, and whether it is registered for GST (with its GSTIN). Or open the sample company first to look around — it comes with a few months of vouchers.
- Make the ledgers (Create → Ledger): your bank account under Bank Accounts, each customer under Sundry Debtors, each supplier under Sundry Creditors, loans, fixed assets, and any expense heads you need. Give each its opening balance on the day the books begin. A screen tells you when the opening balances agree.
- Make the stock items (Create → Stock Item), each with its unit, GST rate, HSN code, selling price and opening stock.
- Enter vouchers. F8 for a sale: choose the party, type the items and quantities, and the tax, round-off and total are worked out as you type. F9 for a purchase, F6 when money comes in, F5 when it goes out.
- Read the reports from the main menu: Balance Sheet (B), Profit & Loss (P), Stock Summary (S), and Display More Reports (D) for everything else. Enter on any line goes into it, down to the voucher itself.
The keys
| Key | What it does |

| F5 | Payment — money paid to a supplier or for an expense |
| F6 | Receipt — money received from a customer, or any income |
| F7 | Journal — adjustments, depreciation, provisions |
| F8 | Sales — an invoice, with goods or services and GST |
| F9 | Purchase — a supplier's bill |
| Ctrl+F8 / Ctrl+F9 | Credit note (sales return) / debit note (purchase return) |
| Alt+F7 | Stock journal — goods used up, made, or moved between godowns |
| Ctrl+A | Accept: save the voucher or master on the screen |
| Alt+C | Make a new ledger or item from inside a voucher |
| F2 / Alt+F2 | The date for new vouchers / the period of the reports |
| Alt+F1, Alt+P, Alt+E | In a report: more detail, print, export to a spreadsheet |
| Enter / Esc | Go into a line (a group, a ledger, a voucher) / come back out |
A few of these keys belong to the browser in some browsers (F5 reloads, F6 jumps to the address bar). In the installed app they all reach the books — another reason to install it.
Groups, ledgers and the chart of accounts
Every company starts with the 27 standard groups — Capital Account, Loans (Liability), Current Liabilities with Duties & Taxes and Sundry Creditors, Fixed Assets, Current Assets with Bank Accounts, Cash-in-Hand and Sundry Debtors, Sales and Purchase Accounts, Direct and Indirect Expenses and Incomes, and the rest. A ledger sits under a group, and the group decides where it shows: which side of the balance sheet, or which part of the profit and loss account. You can add groups of your own under them (say, Local Customers under Sundry Debtors), and a group of yours behaves as the standard group it is under.
Bills, receivables and payables
A customer or supplier ledger can keep bill-by-bill balances. A sale raises a bill under its invoice number, due after the party's credit days; when money comes in, it is set against the oldest bills first (you can change which). Bills Receivable and Bills Payable then list every open bill with its age — not due, 1–30 days, 31–60, 61–90, over 90 — and a reminder of what a party owes can be opened in your own WhatsApp or mail app.
Stock
Stock items carry quantities in their own units (with decimals for kilograms and litres), a godown when you keep more than one, and a value at average cost: what the opening stock and the purchases cost, divided by how much came in. Purchases add to stock, sales take from it, returns go back, and a stock journal records goods used up, made, or moved. The closing stock flows into the profit and loss account and the balance sheet by itself.
GST
Give the company its GSTIN and state, and each stock item (or service ledger) its rate and HSN or SAC code. An invoice to a party in the same state carries CGST and SGST (UTGST in a Union Territory without a legislature); to another state, IGST — decided from the place of supply. The printed invoice is a proper tax invoice: GSTINs, place of supply, HSN-wise tax table and the amount in words. The GSTIN you type is checked character by character. The app knows no rates of its own: every rate is the one you give.
The GSTR-1 screen lists B2B invoices, B2C Large and Small, credit notes, the HSN summary and documents issued, each exportable to a spreadsheet; GSTR-3B gives outward supplies, input tax credit and the tax left to pay after the credit is set off in the order the rules give. Nothing is filed for you: compare the figures with the GST portal and file there.
What it does not do
It does not file returns, make e-invoices or e-way bills (those need the government's portals), or work out TDS, TCS, payroll, interest or reverse charge. It has one currency per company, no cost centres, budgets, orders, batches or bills of material, and no sharing between people: the books are on one device, moved by a file. If you keep a small shop's books in plain words, the simpler Account Book may suit you better.
If you have used Tally, the screens and keys here will feel familiar — groups, ledgers, F4–F9 vouchers, Alt+C to create on the fly. This app is not Tally and is not connected with Tally Solutions; Tally is their trademark.
Is it really free, with no limit on vouchers?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no trial period and no limit on companies, ledgers, items or vouchers beyond the space your browser gives a website, which is usually far more than a small business needs in many years.
Where are my books kept? Can anyone else see them?
Only in this browser on this device, in its own database. Nothing is sent to ManyHand or anyone else. That also means clearing the browser's site data deletes them — so export each company to a file regularly (Data → Export) and keep that file safe.
How do I move my books to another computer or phone?
On the first device choose Data → Export the company to a file. On the other, open this page (or the installed app), choose Import a company file and pick that file. The company arrives with every ledger, item and voucher. Importing replaces the copy on that device; the two are never merged.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Once the page has been opened, and especially once it is installed as an app, it works with no connection at all. It only uses the internet to fetch a new version when one is published.
Can it print a GST tax invoice?
Yes. Open the sales voucher and press Alt+P (or Print): you get an A4 tax invoice with both GSTINs, the place of supply, HSN codes, an HSN-wise tax table, the amount in words, your bank details and terms. In the print window choose Save as PDF to send it as a file.
Does it calculate the GST rate of an item?
No. You type each item's rate (and HSN code) once, on the stock item, and the app multiplies it out on every invoice — splitting it into CGST and SGST within your state or IGST to another state. It never guesses a rate.
Can it file GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B?
No. It works out the figures — section by section for GSTR-1 and the summary and set-off for GSTR-3B — and saves each section as a spreadsheet. You compare them with the GST portal and file there.
I enter vouchers in Tally. Will this feel the same?
Much of it will: the same groups, the same kinds of voucher on F4–F9, Ctrl+A to accept, Alt+C to create a ledger inside a voucher, Enter to drill down from the balance sheet to a voucher. It is a separate app, though, and cannot open Tally's data files.
How is stock valued?
At average cost — the cost of the opening stock and of everything bought (or made in a stock journal), divided by the quantity that came in, up to the day of the report. Sales and returns move the quantity only.
Can I install it like a normal program?
Yes. In Chrome or Edge press Install app at the top of the page (or the install icon in the address bar); on an iPhone use Share → Add to Home Screen. It then opens in its own window, works offline, and takes new versions when you choose.
