Lock it until a date and time
They can open the link at once, but the foil will not scratch before then.
A reveal that gives nothing away
The hard part of a gender reveal card is that everything about it tends to leak the answer: a pink card, a pink preview in the chat, a link that says “girl” in it. This one is built so that none of that happens. With “Keep the colour a secret” switched on — it is, for both baby reveals — the card is a neutral cream with a gold heart, whichever answer is underneath. The preview WhatsApp shows for the link says only “Boy or girl? Scratch to find out”. And the message inside the link is scrambled, so it cannot be read by taking the link apart.
When the heart is scratched, the card itself changes colour and pink or blue smoke bursts out around it.
Sending it to family
- Tap “It's a Girl” or “It's a Boy”.
- Add the small line under the message if you like — the due month, or “Baby Sharma”.
- Put your name in, so the card opens as “A surprise from…”.
- Send the link. Each person scratches their own copy, whenever they open it.
If you want everyone to find out at the same moment, use the lock: set a date and time, send the link early, and the foil will not scratch until then. The card shows a countdown and offers a calendar entry for the moment.
At the party
Open the link yourself and tap “Party mode”. The card fills the screen; “3 · 2 · 1 · Reveal” runs a countdown with a drum roll and then takes the foil off for the whole room. Cast or mirror the phone to a television and everybody sees it together. If you would rather someone scratches it by hand — the grandmother-to-be, say — hand them the phone instead: the card is large enough in party mode to scratch comfortably.
If you do not know the answer yourself
Many couples ask a friend or the sonographer to keep the secret. Give that person this page: they tap the right reveal, switch the sound on if they like, and send you the link without telling you which they chose. Until someone scratches it, the card on your phone looks exactly the same either way.
Other ways to play it
Choose “Three spots” as the scratch area and they have to uncover three matching symbols before the message appears. Or add a second card to the same link — the answer first, then the name.
Can someone tell the answer before scratching?
Not from the card: with “Keep the colour a secret” on, the card, its foil and the link's preview picture are the same for a girl and a boy. The message is scrambled inside the link.
Can everyone scratch it at the same time?
Set a lock date and time. The link can be sent in advance and the foil will not scratch until that moment, by the clock on each person's phone.
Can I show it on a TV?
Yes. Open the link, tap “Party mode” and mirror or cast your phone to the television. The countdown button reveals it for the whole room.
Can I use it in India?
In India it is against the law to find out or disclose a baby's sex before birth, so there the card is used after the birth, as an “It's a girl” or “It's a boy” announcement. The same is true in some other countries, so in the languages mostly read there — the Indian languages, Nepali, Simplified Chinese and Vietnamese — the two baby cards are worded as birth announcements.
