How each picture becomes a page
Every picture becomes one page in exactly its own shape: a tall photo makes a tall page, a wide screenshot a wide one. Nothing is cropped and no margin is added. JPG and PNG pictures are put into the PDF as they are, without being compressed again, so a page looks just like the picture it came from. WebP pictures are converted on the way in.
Phone cameras often store an upright photo on its side and add a note saying which way is up. That note is read here, so a photo taken upright is upright in the PDF.
Because the pages follow the pictures, they are not A4 or Letter sheets. That makes no difference for sending or reading on a screen. When you print, choose Fit to page in the print window.
One PDF from several photos
Add all the pictures together — on a phone, tap the box and pick them from the gallery; on a computer, select several files or drag them in. They are listed in the order they arrive, and ▲ and ▼ move a picture earlier or later. The line under each name reads “image → 1 page”. Press Merge & download and you get a single file, merged.pdf.
PDFs can go in the same list. That is how to add a photographed signature page to the end of a typed PDF, or put a scanned certificate behind an application form.
Photographing a document so it reads well
- Lay the paper flat in even light, with no shadow of the phone across it.
- Hold the phone straight above the page and fill the frame with it.
- Crop off the table edges in your phone's gallery before adding the photo — there is no cropping here.
What it does not do
- No text recognition. Words in a photographed page are still part of a picture, so they cannot be searched or copied in the PDF.
- HEIC photos. The iPhone's HEIC format only works in a browser that can open HEIC itself. If the merge fails on one, save the photo as JPG first.
- File size. The PDF is about as big as the pictures added together, and camera photos are large. To get under an upload limit, compress the PDF to a target size afterwards, or shrink the pictures first with the image compressor.
