Newspaper Bill Calculator
The price of a copy, a Sunday price, and a tap on days it did not come. The month's paper bill is worked out for you.
What comes to your door?
Add each thing you pay for by the day or by the month. Every day counts as usual until you mark it, so most days need no tap at all.
Did not come, or came twice? Tap it here. To fix an earlier day, go back with ‹ or open the Month.
Add something to track first — milk, the newspaper, a maid.
Nothing to bill yet. Add something to track on the Today page.
What is new
Removes everything this app keeps on this device: what you track, every mark, every payment. Export first if you may want it back.
Your newspaper bill, day by day
- Tap Newspaper and type the price of one copy.
- If the Sunday edition costs more, switch on A different price on Sundays and type it.
- On a day the paper does not come — a holiday when it is not printed, or the boy forgot — tap Not today.
- At the end of the month, open Bill.
A month worked out
A daily paper at ₹6, ₹8 on Sundays, in October 2026 — which has 4 Sundays and 27 other days. No paper on the 2nd. A ₹50 magazine on the 15th.
| Line on the bill | Amount |
|---|---|
| 26 days · 26 copies × ₹6 | ₹156 |
| 4 Sundays · 4 copies × ₹8 | ₹32 |
| Magazine · 15 Oct | ₹50 |
| Total due | ₹238 |
The papers alone come to ₹188. Sundays are always a line of their own, so a newspaper agent's bill with a Sunday rate can be read against it line by line.
Two papers, magazines and price changes
- Two papers — an English daily and a Malayalam one — are two items, each with its own price. Choose All under Bill for one message with both and the total.
- A weekly or monthly magazine delivered with the paper: add it as an Extra charge on the day it comes. A magazine that comes on the same day every week can also be its own item, with every other day ticked under Days it does not come.
- A new cover price: type it and choose New price from. Days before keep the old price.
- Away for a few days: Month → Mark several days. Or ask the agent to stop the paper, and mark the same days, so both bills agree.
The days papers are not printed
Many papers are not printed on the day after a few public holidays, and the date differs by paper and by state. The app does not know these days; tap Not today when the paper does not come, and the day is listed under “Not delivered” on the bill. Agents usually take those days off the bill too — if theirs does not, the list shows which days to ask about.
Paying the agent
Record each payment under Bill. Many agents collect every two or three months: the bill then shows what was owed from before, this month, and the total, so you pay one correct figure. The Copy button gives the bill as text for an SMS; Print gives a single sheet.
Questions
How is a newspaper bill calculated?
The copies delivered at the weekday price, plus the Sunday copies at the Sunday price, plus any magazines. In October 2026 a ₹6 paper with an ₹8 Sunday edition and one day missed comes to ₹188.
Can I set a different price for Sundays?
Yes. Switch on A different price on Sundays and type it. Sundays are billed on a line of their own.
What about the days the paper is not printed?
Tap Not today when the paper does not come. The day is not billed and is listed under Not delivered.
Can I track two newspapers?
Yes, add each as its own item. The All bill gives one message with both and the total.
How do I add a magazine?
Add it as an Extra charge on the day it comes, with its price. It goes on that month's bill.
