Milk Bill Calculator

Litres a day, the price, and a tap on the days it did not come. The month's milk bill is worked out for you.

Daily Account

Your milk bill in three taps a month

    1. Tap Milk, type the price of one litre (or one packet) and how much comes each day — 1, 1.5, 2. For packets, set Counted in to Packets.
    2. On a day the milk does not come, tap Not today on the Today page. On a day you take extra, tap +.
    3. On the 1st, open Bill and send last month's bill to your milkman on WhatsApp, or check it against his card.

Every day counts as usual until you mark it, so a month with no missed days needs no taps at all.

    A month worked out

1.5 litres a day at ₹56 a litre, in October. No milk on the 3rd, 12th and 13th; 2 litres on the 10th.

The bill multiplies the month's litres by the price once, rather than adding 28 daily amounts that may each have been rounded — the same way a milkman works out his card.

    When the price goes up

Milk prices change in the middle of a month. Tap the milk's name on the Today page (or find it under More), type the new price, and choose New price from — say the 16th. Days before that keep the old price; nothing already billed changes. With ₹58 from 16 October, the month above becomes two lines:

    16 days · 24 L × ₹58 (16–31 Oct)₹1,392
    12 days · 18.5 L × ₹56 (1–15 Oct)₹1,036
    Total due₹2,428

    Paying

When you pay, tap Record a payment on the Bill page. If you pay ₹2,000 against the ₹2,380 above, November's bill starts with ₹380 “Owed from before”. Pay ahead and the bill shows “Paid in advance” instead. The quick buttons in the payment sheet fill in all that is due, or last month's bill.

Keep it beside the milk card

Most dairies and milkmen keep a card or a book. At the end of the month, read the Month calendar against it: the days in red are the days you marked as missed, the blue ones a different amount. Where the two disagree, the date makes it a short conversation.

    Questions

How do I calculate my monthly milk bill?

Multiply the litres delivered in the month by the price of a litre. Days with no milk count nothing, and days with extra count the extra. The app does this from the days you mark: 1.5 litres a day at ₹56 for 28 days plus half a litre extra is 42.5 litres, ₹2,380.

What if the milk price changes in the middle of the month?

Type the new price and choose the day it starts. The bill shows the days at the old price and the days at the new one on separate lines, and adds them.

Can I count milk in packets instead of litres?

Yes. Set Counted in to Packets and type the price of one packet. The usual amount is then the number of packets a day.

How do I mark the days I was away?

On the Month page, tap Mark several days, choose the first and last day, and every day between is marked as not delivered.

Can I send the bill to my milkman?

Yes. Save his phone number with the milk, and the WhatsApp button on the Bill page opens his chat with the bill typed in, ready to send.
