Daily Account

Monthly pay, leave and a fair cut

    1. Tap Maid (or Cook, or Driver) and type the monthly pay.
    2. Set Paid leave allowed a month — the days off agreed with pay, such as 2 — and the Weekly day off, such as Sunday.
    3. Choose what one day's pay is, for a cut or a part month (see below).
    4. When she takes leave, tap Leave on Today; for half a day, Half day. Days not marked count as worked.

At the month's end, the bill shows the monthly pay, the leave taken, how much of it was beyond what is allowed, and the cut — with the working shown, so there is nothing to argue about.

    A month worked out

₹6,000 a month, Sundays off, 2 paid leaves. In October she took leave on the 6th, 7th and 20th and came for half a day on the 14th: 3½ days of leave, 1½ more than the 2 allowed. What 1½ days comes to depends on what you agreed one day's pay is:

One day's pay isCut for 1½ daysOctober's pay
Pay ÷ days in the month (÷ 31)₹290.32₹5,710
    Pay ÷ 30₹300₹5,700
    Pay ÷ working days (31 less 4 Sundays = 27)₹333.33₹5,667

The pay is rounded to whole rupees (you can switch that off under More). The app does not choose for you: households and their help agree on this in different ways, and the bill prints the rule it used — “1½ × ₹6,000 ÷ 31” — so both sides can see it.

Weekly days off, extra days and joining mid-month

    Paid by the day instead

A cook who comes for some days, or a driver paid per trip-day, can be set to By the day with a day's pay. Then every day worked is paid and every leave is simply not paid: at ₹250 a day, a month with one leave and one half day out of 31 is 29½ days, ₹7,375. There is no “allowed leave” in this way of paying.

    Showing her the month

Open the Month calendar together: green days worked, red leave, amber half days. Bill → WhatsApp sends the month's working to her phone in English, Malayalam or Hindi (set under More → Bill language), and Picture makes an image to keep.

What the app does not decide

It does not say what a fair wage is, how many leaves to give, or what any law requires; it adds up what you have agreed and what you mark. For a printed monthly pay slip, the Salary Slip Maker makes one from the same figures.

    Questions

How do I calculate a maid's salary for leave days?

Take the leave beyond what is allowed, and cut one day's pay for each. One day's pay is the monthly pay divided by the days in the month, by 30, or by the working days — whichever was agreed. For ₹6,000 with 1½ days beyond the allowed leave in a 31-day month, the cut is ₹290 and the pay ₹5,710.

Is her weekly day off counted as leave?

No. A weekly day off is never leave. If she works on it, tap Worked today and a day's pay is added.

How is a half day counted?

As half a day of leave. Two half days make one day.

What if she joined in the middle of the month?

Set Started on to her first day. The first month is paid for the days from then to the month's end — for 10 October, 22 of 31 days, ₹4,258 of ₹6,000.

Does the app say how much leave is fair?

No. You set the paid leave and the rule for a day's pay as you agreed them; the app does the arithmetic and prints the rule on the bill.
