How it looks

The headings, the labels and the date of birth are printed in the paper's language. What you type is printed as you typed it.

Photooptional

The photo stays on this device. It is printed on the PDF and the picture; a link does not carry it.

The PDF and the picture carry the photo. The link carries only the words: the whole biodata is inside it, nothing is stored on a server, and anyone who is given the link can read it.

            Your biodatas

Biodatas are kept in this browser on this device only. Clearing the browser's data removes them, so keep the PDF of each one you send.

            How it works

            1. Choose how it looks. Under How it looks, pick the language of the paper, one of four designs — Classic, Modern, Floral or Royal — and one of seven colours. Each design button is a small picture of your own biodata, so you can see the difference before you choose.
            2. Add a photo if you want one. Drag it inside the box to place the face, and zoom in if the picture was taken from far away.
            3. Fill in the lines. There are five parts: personal details, religion and community, education and career, family details and contact details. Type beside the lines that apply. A line you leave empty is not printed.
            4. Add lines that are missing. Under each part, tap a name such as + Blood group to add that line, or + A line of your own to add one with any label you like.
            5. Download or send. The paper beside the form is the finished biodata. Download PDF saves it; Share the PDF sends it through WhatsApp or another app.

There is no “save” button. Everything is kept as you type, in this browser, and the biodata is under Your biodatas when you come back.

What goes in a marriage biodata

A marriage biodata is a single page that introduces one person to another family: who they are, what they studied and do, who their family is, and whom to call. The tool has 50 ready-made lines. A new biodata starts with the 20 that nearly every family uses, and the rest are one tap away.

PartLines a new biodata starts withLines you can add
Personal detailsName, Date of birth, Height, Marital status, Mother tongueTime of birth, Place of birth, Weight, Complexion, Blood group, Languages known, Diet, Hobbies, Native place, Lives in

Family detailsFather's name, Father's occupation, Mother's name, Mother's occupation, Brothers, SistersHouse name, Family type, Grandfather's name, Maternal uncle's name
Contact detailsContact person, Phone, AddressWhatsApp, E-mail

The arrows beside a line move it up or down, and the cross removes it. Each part holds up to 20 lines. A line takes up to 160 characters (the address 240), and a label of your own up to 40.

Under In a few words there are two optional paragraphs, About and Partner preference, of up to 600 characters each. They are printed after the family details. Two or three plain sentences read better than a long list of adjectives.

Lines for Hindu, Muslim and Christian biodatas

Families of different faiths put different lines under religion. In the Religion and community part, Lines for has four choices, and each one sets out the lines that faith's biodatas usually carry:

            ChoiceLines it sets out
            GeneralReligion, Community
HinduReligion, Caste, Gothram, Star (Nakshatra), Rasi — and Time of birth and Place of birth after the date of birth
            MuslimReligion, Sect, Mahallu / Jamaat
            ChristianReligion, Denomination, Parish

Changing the choice never throws away what you typed: a line with something beside it stays, and so does every line of your own. Only the empty lines of the other faiths are taken away. Any line can still be added by hand, whatever the choice.

The choice also offers a line for the very top of the paper, such as ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥, بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم or “Praise the Lord”. Tap one to use it, tap it again to remove it, or type any line of your own in the box.

The star and rasi boxes suggest the 27 stars and 12 rasis so that the spelling is easy. That is all they do. The tool does not read a horoscope, check a match or work out a star from the time of birth.

            The photo

Choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP picture. It is made smaller — at most 900 pixels on its longer side — and kept with the biodata on this device. The box on the paper is a little taller than it is wide, close to the shape of a passport photo, and the small box in the editor shows exactly what will be printed.

A clear, recent picture of the face and shoulders against a plain background works best. To crop a picture to a set size or put a plain background behind it first, use the Passport & Visa Photo tool, which also works in the browser.

One page, and how the paper fits itself

Most families expect a biodata to be one page. The tool lays the paper out at the roomiest of six sizes that still fits a single A4 page: the text starts at 10.5 point with generous spacing, and steps down to 8.25 point when there is more to fit. The headings, the title and the photo shrink with it. You do not choose a size; adding or removing a line is enough.

About 35 filled lines and two short paragraphs fit on one page. When the paper is at its smallest size, a note under it says so. When even that is not enough, the biodata runs on to a second page at 9 point, the pages are numbered, and the note tells you: shorten the paragraphs or take out a few lines to bring it back to one.

            Designs and colours

            DesignWhat it looks like
ClassicA double rule with scooped corners, a serif title, and each heading followed by a fine gold line.
ModernA band of colour across the top carrying the title, no border, and headings on a pale bar.
FloralA spray of leaves and a small flower in each corner, with dotted rules under the headings.
RoyalA solid border in the chosen colour with a gold line inside it, and headings in white on a full bar.

The seven colours are maroon, navy, green, teal, plum, brown and slate. The page stays white in every design, so a print-out does not use up ink on a background. The title is “Biodata” unless you type another, such as “Marriage Biodata”.

            Biodata in Malayalam and Hindi

Language of the paper has three choices: English, മലയാളം and हिन्दी. The title, the headings, the labels of the ready-made lines and the date of birth are printed in that language. What you type is printed exactly as you typed it, in whatever script you used, so a Malayalam paper can still carry a name or a degree in English.

While you work in Malayalam or Hindi, each label in the form shows its English meaning in small letters underneath. To send the same biodata in two languages, tap Copy under Your biodatas and change the language of the copy.

            PDF, picture, print and link

A link carries the words but not the photo — a picture is too large to fit in a link. Send the PDF or the picture when the photo matters. A link is also not a secret: anyone who is given it can read the biodata.

The biodata is a picture inside the PDF, so the text in it cannot be selected or searched. That keeps Malayalam and Hindi letters looking the same on every phone.

A copy without the contact details

Some families hold back the phone number and address in a first round, or when a biodata goes to a broker or a matrimony group. Tick Leave the contact details off this copy under the contact details. The paper, the PDF, the picture and the link are then made without that part. What you typed is kept, and unticking the box brings it back.

What to check before you send it

            Where your details are kept

Everything you type, and the photo, stay in this browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. You can keep several biodatas — for brothers and sisters, or for one person in two languages — and each is listed under Your biodatas. Clearing the browser's data removes them, so keep the PDF of each one you send. The page a shared link opens loads no advertising and no analytics.

After the biodata comes the wedding: the Invitation Maker, the Guest List Maker and the Outfit Colour Matcher are made the same way.

            Questions
Is the Marriage Biodata Maker free?

Yes. There is no charge, no sign-up and no watermark on the biodata. The PDF, the picture and the link are all free.

What should a marriage biodata contain?

Five things: personal details (name, date of birth, height, marital status, mother tongue), religion and community, education and career, family details (parents, their occupations, brothers and sisters) and contact details. A photo and two short paragraphs, About and Partner preference, are optional. The tool starts with 20 common lines and has 50 ready-made lines in all.

Can I make the biodata in Malayalam or Hindi?

Yes. Choose the language of the paper under How it looks. The title, headings, labels and date of birth are printed in English, Malayalam or Hindi. What you type is printed as you typed it.

Will my biodata fit on one page?

Usually. The paper is laid out at the roomiest of six text sizes that still fits one A4 page, from 10.5 point down to 8.25 point. About 35 filled lines and two short paragraphs fit. Beyond that it runs on to a second page and a note under the paper tells you.

            Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The photo is made smaller in your browser and kept on your device. It is printed on the PDF and the picture you make. A link does not carry the photo.

Can someone edit the biodata from the link I send?

No. The link opens a page that only shows the biodata and lets the reader download it as a PDF, save it as a picture, print it, or call the phone number on it. It cannot change your copy.

            Does the tool match horoscopes?

No. It has lines for the star, rasi, lagnam and Manglik or Chovva dosham, and suggests the spellings of the 27 stars and 12 rasis, but it does not read, compare or work out anything from them.

How do I send the biodata without my phone number and address?

Tick “Leave the contact details off this copy” under Contact details. The paper, PDF, picture and link are made without that part, and what you typed is kept for the full copy.

Can I make biodatas for more than one person?

Yes. Tap “+ New biodata” for each person. They are all listed under Your biodatas on this device, and Copy starts another one with the same details, for a second language or design.
