Class Attendance Register
Choose the date, mark who is absent, message the parents and share the day's sheet with the school. Your class list stays on this phone for tomorrow.
Tap P or A. The ⋯ button marks on leave, late or half day. Tap a pressed button again to clear it.
WhatsApp opens with the message typed in: choose the class parents' group, or one parent, and send. One message cannot go to several parents' numbers at once from a web page — after sending it, you can forward it in WhatsApp to up to five chats.

The day's sheet, A4
On a phone, Share PDF opens the share sheet with the PDF attached — choose WhatsApp, then the head teacher or the school group. On a computer the PDF is downloaded so you can attach it.
You can paste a column of names straight from Excel or WhatsApp. Lines without a number get the next roll number.
Changes are saved as you type. Removing a student also removes their marks from this class.
P present · A absent · L on leave · T late · H half day · grey column: no attendance taken that day. Tap a date to open that day.
The register is built from the days marked on this device. Present days count late as present and a half day as ½; the percentage is present days out of the days the student was marked.
Your classes are kept in this browser on this device and never uploaded. Save a backup file now and then — clearing the browser's data, or changing phones, would lose them otherwise.
Setting up a class
- Type the school name, the class (such as
5,VIIIorLKG), the division, your name and the academic year. A subject or period is only needed if you keep a separate register for one subject. These details print at the top of the attendance sheet and close every message. - Open Students and paste the names, one on each line. A roll number in front of a name is kept —
12 Arjun K,12. Arjun K,12) Arjun Kand12 - Arjun Kall give roll number 12. A line with no number gets the next number after the highest one in the list. - Fix a spelling by typing over the name; the change is saved as you type. The arrows move a student up or down, and Sort A–Z, Sort by roll number and Number them 1, 2, 3… tidy the whole list at once.
A class holds up to 200 students, and up to 40 classes can be kept. If you take more than one division, tap + New class: the school name, your name and the year are filled in from the class you are on. The list at the top switches between classes, and each keeps its own students and days.
Marking a day
The date starts on today. The arrows go a day back or forward, and the date box jumps to any day, so a missed day can be filled in later. Then:
- Mark all present marks every student present. Then tap A beside each absent student.
- If you mark the absent students first, the button reads Mark the rest present and marks only the students you have not marked.
- The ⋯ button gives On leave, Late and Half day. Tap a pressed P or A again to clear it.
- Clear this day removes the day's marks. Both buttons can be undone from the message at the bottom of the screen.
The totals at the top count late and half-day students as present, because they came to school. Students on leave are counted on their own. A student with no mark is shown as Not marked, on the screen and on the sheet, so nothing is quietly counted as present.
Messages to parents
An absent student gets a Message parent button under the name. It opens the message, already written:
Dear Parent,
Your child Meera S (Class 5 B, Roll No. 3) is absent from school today, Saturday, 17 October 2026.
— Anitha K, Class Teacher
St. Mary's Higher Secondary School
Choose the language, change any word in the box, then tap WhatsApp or SMS. WhatsApp opens with the text typed in and you pick the parent's chat; the phone's messages app does the same. The page keeps no phone numbers — they are already in your phone. After you tap, the student shows ✓ opened, so you can see which parents you have done.
The Message the parents panel under the list writes one message naming every absent student you tick, starting "Dear Parents, the following 4 students of Class 5 B are absent from school today…". It is meant for the class parents' WhatsApp group. No web page can send one message to several different numbers by itself; once it is sent, WhatsApp lets you forward it to up to five chats at a time.
The messages can be in 46 languages: English; Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sinhala, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu; and Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. The list puts English first, then India and South Asia, then the rest of the world. Each language writes the date its own way — "17 de octubre de 2026" in Spanish, "2026年10月17日" in Chinese and Japanese — and Persian and Thai give it in their own calendars, the way parents there write it. Arabic, Urdu, Persian and Hebrew messages read from right to left. Names stay as you typed them. For a date before today the wording changes from "is absent today" to "was absent on" with the date. Add a line to every message keeps a sentence of your own, such as a request for a leave letter, at the end of each message for that class.
The sheet for the head teacher
Share PDF makes an A4 sheet of the day: the school, class, date, your name and the year, boxes with the number on roll, present and absent (and on leave, late, half day or not marked when there are any), then every student with their mark. Absent students are shaded. Underneath, the absent, on-leave, late and half-day students are listed by name, with signature lines for the class teacher and the head of the institution.
About 34 students fit in one column. A bigger class is set in two columns, so a class of up to about 68 still fits on one page. On a phone, Share PDF opens the share sheet with the file attached, so you can choose WhatsApp and the head teacher or the school group. On a computer it is downloaded. Print sends the same sheet to a printer.
If the office only wants the numbers, WhatsApp the summary or Copy summary sends a few lines — totals and the names of those absent, on leave, late and half day — in any of the 46 languages.
The monthly register
The Month tab lays out the month the way a register does: a row for each student, a column for each date, with P, A, L (on leave), T (late) and H (half day). A date counts as a working day when at least one student was marked, so holidays and Sundays you did not mark stay grey and are left out. Tap a date to open that day.
| Column | How it is worked out |
|---|---|
| Present | Days present + days late + half of the half days |
| Absent | Days absent + half of the half days |
| Leave | Days on leave |
| % | Present ÷ the days that student was marked, rounded to a whole number |
For example, a student marked on 20 days — 17 present, 1 late, 1 half day and 1 absent — has 18.5 present days and 1.5 absent days, which is 92.5%, shown as 93%. Leave counts as a day away in the percentage. A student who joined mid-month is only counted from the days they were marked. Below 75% the percentage is shown in red, since many schools and boards set 75% as the minimum.
The register downloads as an A4 sideways PDF (33 students a page, with the number present each day along the bottom), prints, or saves as a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets with the exact figures.
Keeping the data safe
Everything is saved in this browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded: the PDF, the register and the messages are all made on the phone. When names are typed in an Indian script, the page fetches a matching font from Google Fonts the first time, so the sheet prints them correctly. The flip side of keeping data on the phone is that clearing the browser's data, or changing phones, loses it. Save backup file makes one small file of all your classes; keep it in Drive or send it to yourself. Open backup file on the new phone puts everything back — it replaces what is on that phone, so open it before marking there.
This is an attendance register for a class teacher, made for the phone. Type the school and class once, add the students, and each morning pick the date, mark the class and send the absent messages. The day's sheet goes to the head teacher as a PDF, and the month adds up into a register with each student's attendance percentage. Nothing you type leaves your device unless you send it yourself.
How do I mark attendance quickly?
Check the date at the top, tap Mark all present, then tap A beside each student who is absent. If you mark the absent students first, the button says Mark the rest present and leaves your marks alone.
Will the student list still be there tomorrow?
Yes. The class details, the students and every day's attendance are saved in this browser on this phone. When you open the page the next day, the same list is there with today's date, nothing marked yet.
How do I tell a parent that their child is absent?
Mark the student absent and tap the message button beside the name. Choose the language, then WhatsApp or SMS. The message opens already typed; choose the parent's chat and send. The page does not keep parents' phone numbers — they are already in your phone's contacts.
Can I send one message about all the absent students?
Yes. The Message the parents panel under the list writes one message naming every absent student you tick, for the class parents' WhatsApp group. A web page cannot send one message to several phone numbers at once, but WhatsApp lets you forward a sent message to up to five chats.
Which languages can the messages be in?
46 languages: English; Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sinhala, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu; and Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. The student's name stays as you typed it. You can change any word in the message box before sending it.
Can I keep more than one class?
Yes. Tap + New class for each class or division you take. The school name and your name are copied from the class you are on, and each class keeps its own students and attendance.
Is the students' information private?
Yes. The names and the attendance are saved only in this browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded to a server, and the PDF and the messages are made on the phone.
