Where to find your product link
- In your online store: open the product page and copy the address from the browser bar, for example
https://yourstore.com/products/linen-kurta. On a phone, use the browser's Share → Copy link. - From your Shopify admin: open the product, then use the View or Preview button to open it in your store and copy that address. The address is also shown under Search engine listing at the bottom of the product page.
Links on your own domain and on yourstore.myshopify.com both work, and so do links opened through a collection (/collections/summer/products/…). A link with ?variant= uses that variant's price. A link to the admin itself (admin.shopify.com/…) does not — the tool needs the page a shopper sees.
What goes into the video
The page asks your store for the same public product data any shopper's browser receives, and draws the video from it: the product photos in the order of your media gallery (up to 20), the title, the price, and — when the compare-at price is higher — the struck-out price, the amount saved and a “% OFF” badge. Your store's name sits at the top, and the video ends with a three-second card: “Shop the link in bio”, the price and your domain. A small label such as Jewellery, Apparel, Footwear, Bags, Home Decor or Beauty is worked out from the product type, title and tags; anything else reads “New In”. Prices are in your store's main currency.
All of it can be changed before the video is made: edit the name, price or label, swap “Shop via link in bio” for “Order on WhatsApp” or your own words, put a WhatsApp number or Instagram handle in place of the domain, hide the parts you don't want, and give the reel your brand colours — or colours picked from the product photo. Those choices are remembered for your next product.
Putting the video on your product page
Shopify lets a product's media hold videos as well as photos. In the admin, open the product and drop the downloaded MP4 into the Media section, then drag it to where it should sit in the gallery; Shopify processes the file before it shows. How it plays — on its own, muted, or after a tap — and how a tall 9:16 video is fitted into the gallery depend on your theme, so check the page on a phone afterwards. Shoppers often watch without sound, which is why the name and price are written on screen.
Where else to post it
| Where | Notes |
|---|---|
| Instagram Reels and Stories | Post from the Instagram app and paste the caption. If your store is connected to Instagram Shopping, you can tag the product where that feature is available. |
| TikTok | Same vertical file; add a trending sound in the app if you chose No music. |
| YouTube Shorts and Facebook Reels | Both take the same 1080×1920 MP4. |
| WhatsApp Status and customer chats | Share the file straight from your phone's downloads. |
| Ads | A 9:16 video fits the Reels and Stories placements of Meta and TikTok ads. |
When a product won't load
- The store has a password page — a store that has not launched yet, or a development store, hides its products from everyone, this tool included.
- The product is not on the Online Store channel — drafts, archived products and products not published to the online store are not on your storefront, so there is nothing to read.
- A headless storefront (Hydrogen or another custom front end) may not serve Shopify's product pages at your domain; try the same product on your
.myshopify.comaddress.
In every case the Reel Maker also takes your own photos: add them, type the name and price, and the video comes out the same.
Tips for better product videos
- Lead with your best photo. The first image in the product's media is the cover of the video.
- Set a compare-at price when you are running a sale; the video shows the saving without any extra typing.
- Keep the title clean. Anything after a “|” or “·” in the title is left out, so keyword lists after a bar never reach the video.
- Three to six photos make an easy-to-follow video; plain backgrounds suit the Full Bleed and Banner layouts.
- Make one per variant with
?variant=links when variants have different prices.
Is this a Shopify app?
No. It is a free web page. Nothing is installed in your store, no permissions or API key are asked for, and there is no monthly fee. It reads only the public product information any shopper can see.
Do I need to log in to Shopify?
No. You only paste the product's public link. The video is made in your browser.
What size and length is the video?
1080×1920 pixels, vertical 9:16, at 30 frames a second, saved as MP4 (WebM on older browsers). Auto length gives each photo about two seconds plus a three-second closing card, so roughly 7 to 19 seconds; or choose 10, 15, 20 or 30 seconds.
Does the video show my store name and sale price?
Yes. Your store's name is at the top and on the closing card. When the product has a compare-at price higher than its price, the video shows the struck-out price, the amount saved and a percent-off badge.
Can I make a video for each variant?
Yes. Copy the link with the variant selected (it ends in ?variant= and a number) and the video uses that variant's price. The photos are the product's whole media gallery, not only that variant's photo.
Is the music copyright-free?
The 15 tracks are offered by their makers as free to use; credit the artist shown next to each one. You can also pick No music and add a sound inside Instagram or TikTok.
