How to watermark photos

  1. Drop in your photos or browse for them. You can add as many as you like.
  2. Choose Text and type the watermark, or choose Logo image and pick your logo.
  3. Set the size, the opacity and the position, and for text the colour. Tick Tile / repeat to cover the whole picture.
  4. Check the preview, then use Download this photo or Download all to apply the same watermark to every photo.

Text or logo?

A text watermark is the quickest: your name, a web address, an Instagram handle, or “© 2026 Your Name”. A logo looks more professional and is harder to imitate. Use a PNG with a transparent background; a logo on a white box looks pasted on. A white or light version of the logo at reduced opacity reads well on most photos.

Where to put it, and how strong

GoalPositionOpacity
Credit — you want people to know whose photo it isA corner, small50 to 70%
Protection — you do not want it reusedOver the subject, or tiled20 to 40%
Proofs for a client to choose fromTiled across the frame25 to 40%

A mark in a corner over plain sky or floor is cropped off in seconds. If protection is the point, place it across detail that cannot be cut away without spoiling the picture. If the point is credit, keep it small and out of the way so that it does not compete with the photo.

Batches that look consistent

The watermark size is a percentage of each photo, so it stays in proportion whether an image is large or small, wide or tall. That makes it safe to process a mixed batch in one go. Scroll through a few previews before downloading everything; a corner that is empty in one picture may hold a face in the next.

What you get back

Each photo is saved at its original pixel dimensions as a PNG, named with wm- in front of the original file name. PNG keeps full quality but makes large files for photographs. To share them or put them on a website, pass the results through the Image Compressor to convert them to JPEG or WebP at a sensible size.

Keep your originals. A watermark is part of the picture once it is saved and cannot be removed, so always work on copies.

What a watermark can and cannot do

A watermark deters casual copying and makes sure your name travels with the image. It does not prove ownership — the unedited original file and, where you have registered it, your copyright registration do that — and a determined person can crop or edit it out. Your photos are processed in your browser and are never uploaded, so unreleased client work stays private. To see or check the details stored inside a photo, use the Image Metadata Viewer.

About & FAQ

Protect and brand your photos with a watermark. Add a text watermark (single or tiled) or upload a logo, set the position, size and opacity, and download one image or a whole batch. It all runs in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.

Can I watermark many photos at once?

Yes — add several and use Download all to save each with the same watermark.

Are my photos uploaded?

No — watermarking happens locally in your browser.
