Box cricket, scored properly

Box cricket is played in a netted court with small sides and a few overs each, and every ground has its own rules. Set the match up the way you play: tap New match, choose 6 overs (or 5, 8, 10), and set Players a side to your team size — 6 to 8 is common. Under Rules, choose what a wide and a no-ball give and whether they are bowled again, turn free hits on or off, and set the most overs one bowler may bowl if your league has a limit.

Local rules the app understands

Your ruleHow to set or score it
A wide or no-ball counts as a ballRules → switch on “counts as one of the over's balls”
No run for a wide, or 2 runsRules → “A wide gives” none, 1 or 2
No free hitsRules → switch off “Free hit after a no-ball”
Each bowler bowls at most one or two oversRules → “Most overs one bowler may bowl”; the bowler list marks anyone who has reached it
Out for hitting the roof or the net on the full, one-tip catchOUT → Local rule; it counts as the bowler's wicket
The last batter bats aloneRules → Last man stands
Bonus runs for hitting a marked wall5+ for the runs, or the number key that matches

Agree the rules before the toss — the app stores them with the match, and the scorecard and the picture are worked out by them.

Between matches

A box cricket evening is often several short matches. When one ends, tap Rematch: the same teams, players and rules are filled in, and only the toss is new. Matches → Player records then adds up the evening — most runs, most wickets, best bowling — across every match you scored.

Send the result to the group

From Card, WhatsApp sends the score, the result and the top performers with a link to the full card, and Picture makes a scorecard image for the group or a status. The link opens on any phone; nothing is uploaded.

Questions

How many overs is a box cricket match?

There is no fixed number; 5, 6 or 8 overs a side are common in box cricket leagues and turf bookings. Choose any number from 1 to 50 when you start the match.

Can a wide count as a legal ball?

Yes, if that is your rule. Under Rules, switch on “A wide counts as one of the over's balls” — the over then ends after six deliveries whatever they were.

How do I score a catch off the net or the roof?

Use OUT, then Local rule. The batter is out and the bowler gets the wicket, written “out (local rule)” on the card.

Can one bowler bowl all the overs?

Yes. The app only warns when someone bowls two overs in a row or more than the limit you set; it never stops you.

Can I score a whole evening of matches?

Yes. Each match is saved on Matches; Rematch starts the next one with the same teams and rules, and Player records adds them all up.
