Cricket Scorer
Tap each ball — runs, extras, wickets — and the score, strike, overs and result are kept for you. Free, offline, no sign-up.
Score a match, ball by ball
Set the teams and overs, then tap each ball as it is bowled. The score, strike, overs, bowling figures and result are worked out for you — and Undo fixes any slip.
Who opens?
A name left blank is the next one on the team's list, or Player 1, Player 2… Names can be changed later under Card.
No match yet. Start one from the Score page and its scorecard appears here as you go.
From every saved match, super overs left out. A player is matched by name, so keep each name spelt the same way.
What is new
Removes every match this app keeps on this device. Export first if you may want them back.
How it works
- Tap Start a new match. Type the two teams' names and the overs a side; the toss, the players' names and the rules can be left as they are.
- Choose the two openers and the opening bowler — tap a name, type one, or leave them blank and they become Player 1, Player 2.
- Tap one key for each ball: 0 to 6 for runs, WD or NB for a wide or a no-ball, BYE or LB, and OUT for a wicket. The app keeps the score, who is on strike, the overs, every batter's and bowler's figures and the run rate.
- After a wicket it asks for the new batter; after six balls it asks who bowls the next over. When the innings ends it shows the target, and when the chase ends it says who won and by how much.
- Open Card for the full scorecard and send it on WhatsApp, as a picture, as a link, or on paper.
The app has four parts, in the bar at the foot: Score (the scoreboard and the pad), Card (every batter, bowler and over), Matches (every match you have scored, and player records) and More (moving to another device, installing the app).
The pad
| Key | Use it for | How it is scored |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 3 | A dot ball, or the runs the batters ran | To the batter and against the bowler; an odd number changes the strike |
| 4, 6 | A boundary | A four or a six to the batter; the batters stay where they are |
| 5+ | Four or six all run, or runs with overthrows (1 run + 4 overthrows = 5) | Runs to the batter; not counted as a four or six |
| WD | A wide, with any runs they ran or a boundary | All wides go into extras and against the bowler; the ball is bowled again |
| NB | A no-ball, with runs off the bat, byes or leg-byes | The no-ball run is an extra; runs off the bat go to the batter; the next ball is a free hit |
| BYE, LB | Byes, or leg-byes off the body | Extras, not against the bowler; the ball counts and the batter faced it |
| OUT | A wicket: bowled, caught, LBW, run out, stumped, hit wicket, and the rare ones | See “Wickets” below |
| Undo | A slip of the finger | Takes back the last ball, together with the batter or bowler it asked for |
| Swap | The batters ended at the other ends | Only the strike changes; nothing is scored |
To put the other batter on strike you can also tap their name. Match holds the rest: a batter retiring, changing the bowler, changing the overs or the target, ending an innings early, abandoning the match and changing names.
One over, ball by ball
| Ball | What happened | Tap | Score | On strike next |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ravi pushes a single | 1 | 1/0 | Anu (they crossed) |
| 2 | Anu hits a four | 4 | 5/0 | Anu |
| — | Kiran bowls a wide | WD → wd | 6/0 | Anu (bowled again) |
| 3 | Anu leaves it | 0 | 6/0 | Anu |
| 4 | Anu hits a six | 6 | 12/0 | Anu |
| 5 | Anu is caught by Sam | OUT → Caught → Sam | 12/1 | The new batter, Joe |
| 6 | Joe takes a single | 1 | 13/1 | Joe again — the over is done and the ends change |
The over reads 1 4 wd • 6 W 1: 13 runs and a wicket, and Kiran's figures are 1-0-13-1 (one over, no maiden, 13 runs, one wicket). Anu made 10 from 4 balls, Ravi 1 from 1, Joe 1 from 1. The wide is in the 13 and against Kiran's name, but it is not one of his six balls and no batter faced it.
Wickets
OUT opens a short sheet: how the batter was out, and for a catch, stumping or run-out the fielder if you know them. A run-out also asks which batter was out and how many runs were completed first; those runs count. Bowled, caught, LBW, stumped and hit wicket are credited to the bowler; run out, obstructing the field and hit the ball twice are not. On a wide the batter can only be stumped, run out, out hit wicket or for obstructing; on a no-ball or a free hit only run out, obstructing or hitting the ball twice — the sheet greys out the rest. Local rule is for a dismissal your ground plays by, such as a one-tip one-hand catch.
After a catch the new batter takes strike, as the Laws have said since 2022, unless it was the last ball of the over. For any other wicket the app puts the new batter where the out batter was; the sheet asks who faces the next ball, so a run-out at either end can be set right.
Innings, target and result
An innings ends when the overs are bowled, the side is all out (one fewer wicket than players, or all of them with last man stands), the target is passed, or you end it from Match. The chase gets the first side's score plus one, from the same number of overs. The result is written the usual way: won by 5 runs when the side batting first wins, won by 4 wickets (8 balls left) when the chasing side does. A tie offers a super over — one over each, two wickets, the side that batted second batting first — and another if that is tied too, or you can end it as a tie.
When rain cuts a chase short, Match → Change the overs shortens the innings and Change the target sets the target the two sides agree. The app does not work out Duckworth–Lewis–Stern targets.
The rules you play by
Under Rules in the New match sheet: how many runs a wide and a no-ball give (none, 1 or 2), whether either counts as one of the over's balls instead of being bowled again, free hits after a no-ball, last man stands, balls an over (6 unless you change it) and the most overs one bowler may bowl. The usual settings follow the Laws: one run, bowled again, and a free hit. A bowler bowling two overs in a row, or more than the limit, is allowed — the app only says so.
Sending the scorecard
WhatsApp opens WhatsApp with the scores, the result, the top batters and bowlers and a link to the full card typed in; you choose the chat and press send. Picture makes a scorecard image to share or save. Link shares only the link. Print prints the card alone. The link holds the whole match in the part after the #, which a browser never sends to a website, so the card opens on any phone without being uploaded anywhere — and shows the match as it was when the link was made, not as it goes on.
Matches and player records
Every match is kept on Matches, newest first, with its result. Tap one to carry on scoring it or to see its card; ⋯ gives a Rematch (same teams, players and rules) or Delete. Player records adds up runs, highest score, average, strike rate, fours and sixes, and wickets, best bowling and economy over every saved match, matched by name.
An app on your phone
Tap Install app to put the Cricket Scorer on your home screen. It then opens full screen, starts at once and keeps working on a ground with no signal. Matches are kept in this browser on this device and are never uploaded. To carry them to another phone, use More → Export every match and Import from a file there; importing adds the matches that are new and keeps the ones already on that phone.
What it does not do
It does not stream the score to other phones as it happens — there is no server — so two people cannot score the same match on two phones. It does not draw wagon wheels or track where the ball went, keep tournament tables or net run rate, or work out DLS targets. It adds up what you tap.
Questions
Is the Cricket Scorer free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no account and nothing to pay. It runs in the browser and can be installed as an app from the page.
Does it work without internet?
Yes, once the page has been opened, and best when it is installed: the app keeps its own files on the phone, so it opens and scores on a ground with no signal. Matches are saved on the phone as you go.
How do I fix a wrong ball?
Tap Undo. It takes back the last ball, and the new batter or bowler that ball asked for. Undo again goes one more ball back, as far as the start of the match. Wrong names can be changed at any time under Card → Change names.
Can my friends follow the score live?
Not live: the app has no server, so nothing is sent while you score. Send them the scorecard link or picture whenever you like; the link shows the match as it was when you sent it.
Does it follow the ICC rules?
Its usual settings follow the Laws of Cricket: a wide or no-ball gives one run and is bowled again, a no-ball is followed by a free hit, a new batter takes strike after a catch, and strike changes on odd runs and at the end of each over. Local rules can be set for each match.
What happens if the match is tied?
The app offers a super over — one over each, two wickets, with the side that batted second batting first — and another if that is tied too. You can also end the match as a tie.
Where are my matches kept?
In this browser, on this device, and nowhere else. Use More → Export every match to keep a copy or move them to another phone.
