How to build a packing list

  1. Start from a template: Essentials, Beach, Trek / Mountain, Business, International or Baby / Family. Each one loads a set of categories with the items most people need.
  2. Make it yours. Remove what you will not take, add your own items, and add a new category for anything special, such as camera gear or medicines.
  3. Tick items as they go into the bag. The counter and progress bar show how much is left.
  4. Use Share list to send it to someone travelling with you, or Print for a paper checklist. Uncheck all resets the ticks so the same list is ready for the journey home or the next trip.

How sharing works without an account

The Share button builds a link with the whole list packed inside the address itself. Nothing is stored on a server. Whoever opens the link gets their own copy, which then lives in their browser — so changes they make do not come back to you. If you update the list, share it again.

Things that are easy to forget

Flying: what goes in which bag

Airline rules differ, so check your own airline before you pack, but two rules apply almost everywhere. Power banks and spare lithium batteries must go in cabin baggage, never in a checked bag. And at most airports liquids in cabin baggage must be in containers of 100 ml or less that fit together in one small clear bag. Sharp objects, including scissors and many tools, belong in checked luggage.

Packing lighter

Pack for a week even when you are away for longer, and plan one laundry stop. Choose clothes in two or three colours that all go together, wear the bulkiest shoes and jacket on the journey, and decant toiletries into small bottles. Laying everything out before it goes in the bag is the quickest way to see what you can leave behind.

The list is saved in this browser on this device. Plan the rest of the journey with the Itinerary Planner and the Trip Budget Planner.

About & FAQ

Never forget your charger again. Load a ready-made list for a beach holiday, trek, business trip or international travel, then tailor it — add or remove items, tick them off as you pack, and watch the progress bar fill. Share the whole list with a travel companion using a single link.

How does sharing work?

The Share button builds a link that carries your list inside it. Anyone who opens it gets a copy — nothing is stored on a server.

Does it save my progress?
