Questions

What are the best exercises for the triceps?

Good choices are chest dip, overhead triceps extension, lying triceps extension (skull crusher) and cable triceps pushdown. Close-grip pressing, dips and push-ups build strength; extensions isolate it.

Can I train the triceps at home without equipment?

Yes. Chest dip and Diamond push-up need no gym equipment.

How many sets and reps should I do for the triceps?

As a general start, 2–4 hard sets per exercise and about 10–20 sets a week for a muscle you want to grow: 8–12 reps to build muscle, 4–6 heavier reps for strength, 15–20 for endurance. Leave a rep or two in reserve and keep good form.

What does the triceps do?

Straightens the elbow — every press and push-up. Pulls the arm down and back (long head only).
