Traffic Light
Wait for green, then tap first. Jump the gun and you are out. In Adults mode a fake amber flash is there purely to catch you.
Balloon Mash
Hammer your half of the screen to inflate your balloon. In Adults mode it deflates while you tap, which turns it into genuine exercise.
Odd One Out
One dot in the grid is a different shade. Spot it first. Obvious for small children, roughly eight degrees of hue apart for grown-ups.
Perfect Stop
A marker sweeps back and forth. Stop it dead centre of the target band — which gets very narrow and very fast in Adults mode.
Colour Trap
A colour word printed in a different colour of ink. Answer about the ink, not the word — a Stroop test, and it is far harder than it sounds.
Math Duel
A sum appears — decide whether the answer is right before anybody else does. Single digits for children, two-digit multiplication for grown-ups.
Colour Memory
Watch a sequence of colours, then repeat it on your own pad. Three colours for children, five and much faster for adults.
Bug Squash
Bugs scurry around your half of the screen and you have fifteen seconds to squash as many as you can. Small children love this one.
Blind Timer
The clock disappears after a second or two. Tap when you think the target time is up — closest wins. Children can count it out loud.
Quick Tap
Hit the lit square the instant it appears. Kids get a patient two-by-two grid; adults get a three-by-three that moves on its own, with penalty tiles.
Bomb Pass
Hot potato with a lit fuse. Tap to shove it onto somebody else, and whoever is holding it when the fuse runs out loses the round.
How four people play on one phone
The screen is divided into one zone per player — halves for two, a half plus two quarters for three, quadrants for four — and each zone is rotated to face the edge that player is sitting at. The person opposite you is not squinting at your screen upside down; they get their own, the right way up. Touchscreens report every finger separately, so all four players tap at the same instant rather than taking turns.
Each player has a colour, and a row of score dots in the corner of their own zone. Rounds last between about five and thirty seconds, the winner is whoever takes three rounds first, and a rematch is one tap away.
The same game for a four-year-old and a forty-year-old
Rather than splitting into a kids app and an adults app, every game has two tunings. Kids mode slows everything down, enlarges the targets, removes the traps and needs no reading at all — colours and sounds carry the rules. Adults mode narrows the targets, roughly doubles the speed and adds the deliberate cruelty: the fake start, the deflating balloon, the barely distinguishable shade. The rules never change, so a parent and a child can play the same game and both find it hard.
Safe to hand to a child
No ads, no in-game purchases, no chat, no accounts and no data collection. Nothing in a game links out of it. Everything runs on the device, so it also works on a plane, in a car park, or anywhere the signal has given up.
